P&F News

Dear Parents,
your P&F reps, led by Annie, have organised a wonderful Easter treat for the boys next Tuesday and Thursday. We will be having some warm Hot Cross Buns to share. If your son is allergic to normal hot cross buns please feel free to send along a home made bun that your child can consume safely

Cable Tables

Dear Construction Dad's!!
We are looking for cable reels with ends that are approximately 60cm in diameter. We add foam to the tops and use them as small tables but our supplier is no longer able to provide us with them. If you work at a building site and come across any cable reels that you think we could use as a table we would love it if you could save them for us.
Thanks
Kindergarten Staff

Congratulations

Congratulations to one of our Little Princes families who managed to raise $60,000 for Pediatric Cardiology, a mammoth effort. If anybody would like to donate to this worthy cause and add to this wonderful amount please pass a donation to your son's class teacher.

Hippity Hoppity

I saw a little rabbit once
a-hopping on his was
I said "Where are you going
on such a lovely day?"
He said without the slightest frown
"Please don't get in my way,
I'm taking round the Easter Eggs
because it's Easter day!"
Dear Parents,
Easter is nearly upon us and it will soon be time to learn about the true meaning of the season....and to indulge in some chocky treats!
The story of Jesus
Children will learn at school about how Jesus died on the cross and rose again. This often encourages lots of questions from children about the subject of death which can be a little unnerving for some parents. We teach children about the permanency of death and how Jesus is the only person "who got to come back". This helps children understand that, after hearing about the story of Jesus, they can't expect others to be alive again after dying. Children will often ask why people die and at Kindergarten we reinforce that people only die when they are very very very very very very very sick, very very very very very very very old, or their body is very very very very very very very broken (specialists in the field recommend the seven "very"'s so that children understand that you don't die from a cold, turning 40 or a broken arm!) We are very matter-of-fact in response to queries at Kindergarten and answer children's questions honestly without going into long detail (most children don't want this anyway). If your child is asking questions that you find difficult please feel free to have a chat with your child's teacher about how to respond to the subject.
And now...a more cheery subject... chocolate!!!!
Every year children enjoy sharing chocolates with their friends. To assist with this students construct their own Easter basket to hold their goodies. Children may bring a bag of small Easter eggs to school as of next Monday to share with their friends. Students place these eggs directly into our baskets, this is fun and prevents tears when the recipient inadvertently misplaces his egg. Children then take their eggs home to eat over the Easter break. Due to allergies please ensure that your child's Easter treats do not contain nuts eg: bertie beetles etc...
Thankyou
Happy Easter

Flinders Parent Teacher Interviews

Dear Parents,
At the start of April I will be travelling to the Italian region of Reggio Emilia to participate in a two week early childhood study tour. As you are aware the exciting and unique approach to early childhood practice and the constant exploration of the socio-constructivist philosophy of centres in Reggio Emilia underpins the basic principals of our own centre and I am thrilled to be participating in this professional development experience. It will mean that I will be overseas on the final Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of Term One. Of course we are extremely lucky to have Mrs Taylor teaching in class in my place. The boys are currently unaware of my impending trip but I am sure they will be thrilled to spend some time with Sarah again.
In preparation for this trip I have scheduled Parent/Teacher interviews a week early (Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th of March) and have placed a schedule in the classroom for parents to fill in, choosing a time convenient for them. Parent Teacher Interviews are not compulsory but if you would like to take advantage of a time to catch up I prefer it if both parents are able to attend together. Please let me know if this is a problem.
Thankyou
Mel Bishop

Hats and Spare Clothing

At this time if year hats are a very important part of our day. With the strong heat we do not step foot out doors without them on. Many parents are becoming frustrated by missing hats. In the Flinders Room we have changed our procedure so that children place their hat in the hat basket on Mondays and all hats go home for a wash on a Friday. This enables teachers to know where all the hats are at any time and hopefully will lessen the problem of hats getting mixed up. In the Pirie Room this is much more difficult due to the number of children. If your child is in the Pirie Room we are hoping you can help us keep track of our hats by helping us in two ways. Please ensure your child's hat is hanging in his locker at the start of the day, and when you collect your child please ensure that it is your child's hat only that you are taking home (some hats seem to have migrated to foreign bags!!). In the Pirie Room we are currently missing hats marked Fergus and Liam.
In special circumstances we are able to give children spare clean hats to wear when they do not have one of their own. For general playground time children must stay under cover if they do not have their hat. All our spare Pirie hats are currently borrowed and have not yet been washed and returned. Also all our spare shorts are currently borrowed and un-returned leaving us with no spare shorts for accidents. If your child has recently borrowed a hat or pair of shorts marked Kindy please wash them and return them to us as soon as possible.
Thankyou

Kindergarten Places

Dear Parents,
we are pleased to announce that enrollemnts in our Kindergarten are very healthy. We have had a number of parents speak to us about places for younger siblings that are getting ready to turn three. We would urge any parents who are intending to send their children to Little Princes Kindergarten in the next two years to ensure that their child is enrolled to confirm a place. If you would like your child to attend and they are not currently enrolled we would ask you to contact our registrar, Carolyn Roney at croney@pac.edu.au urgently.
Thankyou
